NanoTowns Guide and Tips

NOTE: The developers have updated the game as of 4/3/10.  I’m currently creating version 2 of the Guide.

I’ve always been a casual gamer and apart from playing them to relieve my stress, I really like checking out new games, especially in Facebook.

My new favorite game is NanoTowns by Digital Chocolate.   The reviews haven’t been that great but I see the game’s potential and I like it! So, to those who love the game, here is a guide and some tips for you.   Since the game normally progresses and I’m still going through the game, I will update this post (or write another one) as needed.

Warning: This guide will contain spoilers. *updated 4/10/10*

The Money
There are two types of money that you can use in the game.  Town Coins can be earned by completing quests from different buildings or through clicking the building’s “stars”.  DC Cash (Digital Chocolate Cash) need to be earned by trying out offers or purchasing it with real money.

The Buildings
Some buildings can be constructed through Town Coins but there are a few that need DC Cash.  The list below is grouped as decorative and functional. Decorative buildings do not produce anything but quests randomly appear for you to progress. Functional buildings produce goods to help you fulfill the quests.  This will help you decide whether you want to stick with the functional buildings or make you curious enough to build the decorative ones to know what comes up next.

Decorative

Residential – houses, flats, apartments including Brownstone, cabins (limited time it is functional), cottages & chalets.
Commercial – fudge shop, farm, night club, Pho3000, comic shop, salon, liquor store, school, subway station, police station, office, town hall, museum, dotcom building, rex in the city and the aquarium.

Functional

The school, library, cafe, Do’s Donuts, bar, boutique, pet shop, taco stand, garden center, news stand, record store, post office, fire station, market, bakery, bike shop, burger shop, city park, Italian restaurant, zoo, winery, and the playground. For a limited time the bank, shroom shack, and the cabin is functional for the Easter Egg quests.

Value (Rent) of Buildings *updated 4/10/10*
Each building is worth an amount of Town Coins which appear as 3 stars above each building.  You can consider this as rent. This helps when you need more Town Coins to purchase more buildings or produce goods.  Here is a list that I’ve seen so far, based on what I have in the game.

There are a couple of forums out there that you can check out for strategies and more tips.  This is it for now.  I’ll create another post for a list of quests that you can use as reference. Hope this basic guide helps you progress through the game.  If you want to add on to these items since you may be at a higher level at this point, feel free to place them in the comments area for the rest of us to check out.

    TIA!

    Nice Blog by the way!

  3. Thanks Rowena for dropping by. At this time, not sure where yet but will update this post once I know where to get it. I’m thinking Rex in the City since it’s a theme park.

  4. sherry

Rowena you get the panda from the zoo that cost Dc bucks

I just got a Request from the racetrack asking for chips but there is no one that has chips hope they will be adding it. If they put it for a request

  6. Thanks Sherry. I have yet to check zoo since I’m waiting for poo to be produced.

Haven’t built the race track yet. I’m thinking the chips will be available at the Taco stand? or any of the shops.

Theater bill is now found in the Theater! Great to see that come up. Also noticed that the movie theater can now be bought by Town Coins.

the taco stand only produces taco..
    does the hotel produce bed?

  9. why does my bakery and apartment repeat their quests while the other buildings doesn’t give any?

  10. yessica – hotel doesn’t produce anything at this point.

czarina – the quests are pretty random. One day I had the same beer goggles. Yesterday it was Facebook photo. Though I noticed that this happens now after they upgraded. Pretty boring though since I rarely get quests that offer big rewards. Hope things get better.

  11. MK

Where do you produce the bed from?

  12. Hey MK. You can now get the bed from the Hotel.

A few weeks back the game developers had a glitch in their game and they’ve fixed it.

Here’s the link to the most updated list.
